The Actress - Belinda Torrey

Belinda as Lizzy Pouts When She Learns Her Favorite Dolly Has Been Ruined!

Belinda is a 1984 graduate of Montana State University, Bozeman.  She pursued a career in science education and
later added elementary education to her credentials.  She has taught at various grade levels and subject matters in
Montana, Washington, Arizona, Ecuador, and Mexico.

Between teaching assignments, she also managed to be very involved with environmental education at several
nature centers and conservation districts in New York, Washington, and Arizona.  In addition, she was fortunate
enough to work as an Elderhostel instructor in Copper Canyon, Mexico.

Belinda currently resides in Prescott, AZ; a place she was drawn to in part due to its commitment to the performing
arts.  Here she is able to pursue her livelong passion of the performing arts, and calls herself a “hobby actress.”
She débuted in 2000 as Sunny in The Lady Who Cried Fox.  Since then, she has performed in: The Night Theroux
Spent in Jail, Chamber Music, The Way of all Fish, Luv, The Woolgatherer, and Later Life.

Belinda says she has many things in common with Lizzy of
The Syringa Tree.  “The moment I read the synopsis of
the play, there was no doubt in my mind that I would perform this.  I started learning my lines as soon as I got a copy
of the script.  I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to offer this performance as a tribute to my Salamina.”
